Local Rules and Boundaries

June 1, 2021
On Hole #14, If your ball comes to rest by the log where the wires are supporting the pole and is within 2 club lengths behind of the log, you can drop it on either side, NO PENALTY.   If the ball is to the left of the middle of the log, drop to the left.  If the ball is to the right of middle of the log, drop to the right.  You may take your stance plus one club length.  If your ball is lost, it is a one stroke penalty.
On Hole #15, A log was placed right of the tree to prevent carts from driving under that area and tearing the top of the cart off.  The Pro Shop said it is a temporary immovable obstruction.  We will make that a Local Rule for our club that if your ball comes to rest by the log, you can drop it on either side, NO PENALTY.
Do Not Attempt to try to move either log.

PLEASE NOTE: These are Local Rules for the Women's Club, not SCGA Rules!

Out of Bounds / Lost Ball / Provisional – Rule 18

This local rule is in effect for pace of play.  It provides an alternative to stroke and distance relief.  For two (2) penalty strokes, you can estimate the spot where your ball is lost or went out of bounds and then find the nearest fairway edge that is not nearer the hole than the estimated spot. You can drop a ball in the fairway within two club-lengths of that fairway edge point, or anywhere between there and the estimated spot where your ball is lost or went out of bounds.

If you think that your ball might be out bounds or that you might not find it, you can play a provisional ball to save time. You must announce that you are playing a provisional ball before doing so. If you are then unable to find your original ball, or you find it out of bounds, your provisional ball is your ball in play under stroke and distance, and you don’t have to take the time to walk all the way back to the spot of your previous stroke.

Two nets on #5

Your ball is stuck in the netting, and you cannot get it down. The ruling on it is if you can identify it is your ball in the netting, you get stance and relief at the point the ball is in the net.  NO PENALTY.  If you take an unplayable, you can go back to the tee box and hit another for a 1 stroke penalty.  (Confirmed with Los Robles Greens)

Hole #16

If you hit your ball in the trees to the right and find your ball, you can either hit it out for no penalty, or pick it up and move to the fairway for a two-stroke penalty.  We ask you to always hit a provisional from the tee box.  You can play the provisional if you find your original ball.   (Confirmed with Los Robles Greens)

Ground Under Repair - Rule 16

Relief from Ant Hills

Ant Hills are a loose impediment.  Ant Hills are not an Animal Hole or Ground Under Repair by rule.  Therefore, we will make it a Local Rule defining Ant Hills as Ground Under Repair.-- Rule 16.1 will apply taking FREE RELIEF from an Abnormal Course Condition. NO PENALTY.

Water on Hole #7

If your tee shot on Hole #7 hits any part of the wall around the water from the tee box and goes in the water or goes in the water directly, it is considered in the hazard.  You must retee or hit from where your ball crossed into the hazard.  One Stroke Penalty.

If your ball hits the tree or structure to the left and goes in the water, you may take lateral relief from where the ball crossed into the water. One Stroke Penalty.

There are no longer red hazards markers between the lake and the fairway. If your ball crosses over the water and does not hit the wall, and then rolls back in the water, you may take lateral relief from where the ball rolled back into the water.  One Stroke Penalty

Hole # 2 - Out of Bounds Los Robles

If your ball from your tee shot ends anywhere to the right of the fence or white stake beyond the green on hole #2 it is considered out of bounds.   You must re-tee and take a one stroke penalty.  ALWAYS take a Provisional Tee Shot if there is any doubt you are out of bounds.  If you do not take a provisional and your ball is out of bounds, then you must use our local rule and take a two stroke penalty and place in the fairway no closer to the pin from where the ball when out of bounds.

If your ball is ON the cart path you can take free relief from the fairway on the flight path of the ball, no closer to the pin.   No penalty.
